Complex Microfluidics and Biomaterials

In biology most fluids exhibit a very unusual and complex flow behavior. At the same time the flow is confined most times to a microscale. The central techniques used here are different microfluidic devices based on the soft lithography technique and high resolution microscopy. We develop approaches to quantify the complex viscous behaviour of such fluids and apply it to unravel the natue of biomaterial production process such as found in the spider silk thread formation.
